REMINDER NOTICE REGARDING PROM AND GRADUATION

PROM (dinner and dance) is on Tuesday, June 26th at the Halifax Marriott Harbour Front Hotel. Prom Theme: "Monte Carlo"

THE NIGHT OF THE PROM
• Bring your tickets - you must arrive with the exact ticket number that was issued to you (& your guest). All guests are required to bring photo ID
SCHEDULE
6:45-7:45        Students check-in to ballroom/drop-off (student reception only in Nova Scotia foyer, photographs with guardians should be taken in lobby downstairs, or organized prior to student ascent to the Nova Scotia Ballroom)

7:45-8:00       Doors close (no one will be admitted after this time) Seating for dinner 

8:00                Dinner will be served

9:00                Dance begins

12:00              Prom ends

* Dear Parents/Guardians:

This is our first year at a new location for Prom. We chose the Halifax Marriot because it was the only available venue that we believed would meet the needs of our students. It offers us the ability to celebrate their success in a special and stylish way in downtown Halifax. With this change comes some change to our traditional schedule as noted above.  The Halifax Marriot didn’t have the space for us to host a Parent/Guardian Reception, or a parade of graduates this year. Unlike our previous venue the Halifax Marriot is a public hotel on the main floor. They ask that you arrange for family pictures at a location in advance, such as the Public Gardens, because they won’t be able to accommodate every parent and guardian indoors in the public lobby of the hotel.

GRADUATION REHEARSAL
Wednesday, June 27th @ Halifax Exhibition Centre
10:00 am – rehearsal and only time for grad gown distribution

Grad barbecue is held at the school immediately following the rehearsal

* Dear Parents/Guardians/Graduates:
It is unfortunate that the Graduation Rehearsal is the morning after Prom, but it was unavoidable. There were no alternate dates.  Please make sure that you attend the rehearsal.  It is the only opportunity to get your gown in advance for family photographs, and there is important information and practice that needs to happen to ensure that graduation runs smoothly for each of you.  We appreciate your support so that we can all make graduation day the best it can be for you, the graduates, your friends and your families.

GRADUATION DAY
Thursday, June 28th @ Halifax Exhibition Centre, 9:00 am
Grads arrive by 8:15 am
Ceremony 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (unlimited seating - no tickets required)
Reception at Halifax West High School 12:30 – 1:30 pm

TEXT BOOKS AND LIBRARY BOOKS THAT NEED TO BE RETURNED
Please check the TWO lists posted on our website for you Provincial Student number.  The TWO lists will let you know if you have textbooks or library books overdue.  Some students have to return a book valued at $10.00 while others have many books to be returned and they amount to over $400.00.  Please make sure you check this list and return your books to the school or arrange to pay for missing books. This needs to be accomplished by 2pm on Wednesday afternoon. All books can be returned to the library at the school.
