Halifax West High School

Closure Update

Good Evening Halifax West High Students and Families

We hope you and your families are doing well and staying safe.

Our teaching staff is currently reaching out to our students via email. We are hoping to have all these contacts complete by the end of Monday. Your student should be receiving an email through their GNSPES accounts from their D Block teacher. Students who do not have an D Block will be contacted by Vice Principal Glen MacDuff.

This email is not about instructions or completing assignments. The school wants to check in with students and families to see how they are doing and we need to know if they have access to appropriate technology to complete school work online.

We need to gather this information is so we can properly assess how to move forward while the school is closed. This will also allow us to communicate with our regional office and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development so they are best able to help support us and your families in these uncertain times.

We ask that all students and families respond to this email by Tuesday, March 31st 2:00pm. If your child cannot access their GNSPES account, we ask that they email their D Block teacher through a personal email letting them know how they are doing and if they have appropriate technology to complete work from home. If your child does not have a D Block course, we ask that they email Vice Principal Glen MacDuff. All staff emails can be found on the school website in the staff directory.

I would also ask that you communicate this information with other Halifax West High School community members in case this email or our voice message has been missed. This email will also be posted on the school’s website so it can be shared with as many people as possible.

Take care,
Greg
