Halifax West High School

May 8th, 2018

  • If there’s any grade 10s or 11s who are interested in doing announcements next year, there will be auditions tomorrow at 3:30 in the office. So come on out if you’d like to give it a try!
  • Halifax West girls field hockey advance to the league finals with a complete 8-4 win over a tough Prince Andrew team.  On the road, the West girls started slowly down 2-0 early in the game but then a clutch save from Molly Mitchell kept the team from going down 3-0 and 2 minutes later Zahra Nauman dove and went to the floor to score a huge goal to get the West rolling!  The West girls speed of play, dazzling stick work and quick passing led to constant pressure on PA and a few beautiful combination goals to pull away for the win!   Another road trip to Citadel for the league final on Wednesday at 6pm … come cheer on your Warriors!
  • Today for Mental Health Week, come to the cafeteria and get your pictures taken in our photo booth. Also, you can still sign-up of tomorrow’s Student vs. Teacher dodgeball game.
  • Attention graduating students:  This is the LAST WEEK to buy prom tickets.  See Mrs. Langille in room C244 before school, at lunch or after school.  Permission forms must be signed by parent/guardian before a ticket can be purchased.  Prom tickets will NOT be sold during class time.
  • WE Schools will be selling a Mother's Day Gift all week in the cafeteria.  Gifts can be pre-ordered Monday to Thursday this week in the cafeteria with pick up on Friday.  Help support WE Schools local fundraiser and give your Mom a little token of appreciation.
  • Tryouts for the boys’ softball team will take place this Tuesday & Thursday at 3:30 @ Westridge Field.
  • Track Athletes must have all forms handed in by Tuesday or you do not compete at the track meet.  High Jump practice has been switched to Wednesday morning. Tuesday afterschool practice at CGC is now in our gym. All track athletes are asked to come to the gym afterschool today for a brief meeting and to pick up spikes and singlets.
  • ATTENTION WARRIORS!  Any students who would like to volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Society at their annual MS walk on May 27 at the Canada Games Centre are asked to attend a brief meeting Thursday at lunch in room C144 or see Mme Fougere at any time this week for information.
