Winter carnival is next week!  Check out the schedule on the windows in front of the theatre.

Monday is Slipper day and there will be a cake walk in the caf at lunch, but you must be wearing slippers to participate!

Tuesday, wear your Canada colours and come out to the caf at lunch to see pin the equipment on the hockey player

Wednesday is West Wear day and the activity in the caf at lunch will be a Scavenger hunt

Thursday is Winter colours (Blue and white) and at lunch, come out for the Newlyweds game

And Friday will be Red and Pink day for Valentine's Day. Come out to the caf at lunch for your chance to win some prizes at our carnival games!  Also, bring some change next week to buy candy apples, baked goods and cotton candy!

Any students or staff wishing to join the COSPLAY club are asked to meet with Mr. Watt this today at lunch in the Makerspace Room B321.

The Raspberry Jam HFX organizing committee will meet this Friday at lunch in Room B320.

Girl on Fire will be run here at Halifax West beginning this Friday. This empowerment program for female identified students has been run in many schools and we are fortunate to have it happening this semester here at Halifax West. For more information on how you can take part, please see Cheryl in the youth health center or Marwa in the YMCA room by end of the day on Thursday

The parking passes for first semester have expired and MUST be returned to the office.  All students interested in a parking pass for this semester can apply on line today.    Check the website and it should be up later today and you will require your gnspes email.    You must be in grade 12 to apply and have proof of vehicle registration and insurance.     There is a $20 deposit fee (to be returned when the parking pass is returned).   There are a limited number of parking spots so not everyone will be accepted.   If you had a pass 1st semester you should not apply 2nd semester.     The online applications will close today afterschool. 

The Graduation Photographer will be here for the last time on Tuesday Feb 11.    He will begin at 10:00am and only stay for about an hour or so.   If you missed getting a grad photo taken you MUST sign up in the office…

West socks and water bottles are still for sale at the red cart in the caf at lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Get yours today!

Anyone interested in joining the NS SKills Animation team there will be a meeting in room A310
TODAY at Lunch hour to distribute some information about the upcoming competition. The last two years Halifax West Students have captured Gold, Silver and Bronze. Anyone can join so feel free to stop by. Please contact MR.WADDEN for more information if you can’t attend.

We are looking for new members to join the Halifax West VR and Game Making Club. There will be a meeting this Friday in room A310 to discuss and outline what the club is about as well as discuss an upcoming Game Jam event happening this semester. Anyone can join the club so if you have always wanted to explore the world of 2D, 3D and VR game making, come on out. Please see MR.WADDEN if you can’t attend the meeting.

There will be a snowboard team meeting for any student wanting to compete in the boarder Cross at Martock.
The meeting will be in room A283, MR Ryans room,  on Tuesday feb 11th

Meeting today at lunch in C225 for all students participating in the African heritage month assembly. If you can't attend please contact Ms. de la Chevotiere.

Students are reminded to bring their permission forms tomorrow to Mr. Scott for the NextUp2020 conference at Dalhousie University.

The first large group of immigrants were the Black Loyalists who came as refugees after the American Revolution between 1782 and 1785. About 3,500 people settled throughout Nova Scotia in communities such as Annapolis Royal, Clements, Granville, Birchtown, Brindleytown, Preston, Little Tracadie, Chedabucto and Halifax.

There will be a brief Health Action Team meeting today at the beginning at lunch in the youth health centre.
