Any student who was invited to the Extra-Curricular Awards Evening and was unable to attend is reminded that their certificate can be picked up in the main office all week.

Attention graduating students:  prom tickets will be on sold for TODAY and this is the THE FINAL DAY.  See Mrs. Langille in room C244 before school, at lunch or after school.  Permission forms must be signed before a ticket can be purchased.  

Attention lovers of Broadway Musicals!!   And anyone else who loves to sing, dance, paint, sew costumes, play an instrument, mess with lights, climb ladders, hammer nails or switch buttons on and off.  After a 2 year hiatus Halifax West will be producing a musical next spring. The big reveal will take place Tuesday June 5 at lunch in the school theatre.  No previous experience is necessary.  We are looking for musicians, singers, dancers, carpenters, painters, staff and students and anyone else who would like to be involved.  You can play a big part or simply help out a little bit, all are welcome.  Come on out next Tuesday at lunch to hear which musical we will be performing next year.

The West’s first ever Pride Day is coming up on Tuesday, June 5th. We’ve got plenty of fun things planned to celebrate International LGBT Pride Month, including an opportunity to wear rainbow colours and bring your Pride memorabilia to school, music and a Pride Photo Booth in the Caf at lunch, and more! Be sure to keep your eyes open for all the ways you can celebrate your pride at the West.

If you are an Aboriginal student who is thinking of attending Mount Saint Vincent University, there will be a two day all expenses paid camp the weekend of June 8th. During the camp, students will participate in hands on activities, attend lecture presentations delivered by Mount professors, and learn about the services available to you at the university. For more details or an application form, please see Ms. Fleming.

June 16th, you are invited to attend a First Nations Drumming Circle with Women of the Shore at Keshen Goodman Library. This event begins at 2:30.

The music room will not be open after school today.  Please get your instruments before A block.

There is a very important choir rehearsal at lunch today so all choir members please attend.

A jacket was left in the music room at the end of last week so if you have lost your jacket see Mr. Burtt in the music room.

Attention Halifax West Students. Tomorrow during lunch hour we will be having preview of the film Same Nightmare. This film was directed by Halifax West Alumni Spencer Mackay, and stars many of the students that attend Halifax West. Spencer will be on site to answer any questions about the film as well as any questions about how to get into the Film Industry and the program that is offered at NSCC.   All are welcome.   See you in the Theatre.

Today was the last day for the food drive in support of the Fairview Food Bank.  In total, there were 359 donations.  Thank you to all the classes that participated and congratulations to Mme Goora’s D block class who won with 193 items donated.

Any students interested in learning to code are invited to an after school session on Monday June 4th in Room B324. If you are interested you will need to register with Mr. Watt in Room B320. If you have any questions about programming and what you can learn please see Mr. Watt.
