Attention lovers of Broadway Musicals!!   And anyone else who loves to sing, dance, paint, sew costumes, play an instrument, mess with lights, climb ladders, hammer nails or switch buttons on and off.  After a 2 year hiatus Halifax West will be producing a musical next spring. The big reveal will take place Tuesday June 5 at lunch in the school theatre.  No previous experience is necessary.  We are looking for musicians, singers, dancers, carpenters, painters, staff and students and anyone else who would like to be involved.  You can play a big part or simply help out a little bit, all are welcome.  Come on out next Tuesday at lunch to hear which musical we will be performing next year.

June 16th, you are invited to attend a First Nations Drumming Circle with Women of the Shore at Keshen Goodman Library. This event begins at 2:30.

Any students interested in learning to code are invited to an after school session today June 4th in Room B320. If you are interested you will need to register with Mr. Watt in Room B320. If you have any questions about programming and what you can learn please see Mr. Watt.

Congratulations to the Track & Field Team for an excellent showing at the Provincial Track & Field Championships in Cape Breton. Gold Medal 1st place to Raheem Elliott for Senior Boys Triple Jump.  Awesome!  We had many 5th place finishers and the Senior Girls 4X100 relay team came 4th. Senior Girls were 6th out of 29 schools. Senior Boys were 8th out of 36 schools. Well Done!!!  The Provincial results are posted outside of the gym.  All team athletes can pick up their deposit when they return their singlets and spikes.  There will be a banner signing on Tuesday at lunch for the Senior Boys and Senior Girls teams from Districts and Regionals.

The West’s first ever Pride Day is coming up on Tuesday, June 5th. We’ve got plenty of fun things planned to celebrate International LGBT Pride Month, including an opportunity to wear rainbow colours and bring your Pride memorabilia to school, music and a Pride Photo Booth in the Caf at lunch, and more! Be sure to keep your eyes open for all the ways you can celebrate your pride at the West.
